EvidenceNet is a free, open-access service to promote and support evidence-informed practice in learning and teaching in higher education.
One way it does this is by providing access to evidence from across the HE sector through the resources section, which allows users to search and browse across disciplines or key themes in learning and teaching, or within them using the faceted search.
EvidenceNet is designed to maximise the amount of available content that is of practical use to learning and teaching practitioners. Including material from the less formal and structured to rigorously peer-reviewed articles from leading journals provides access to a wider array of resources than services that draw solely from traditional peer-reviewed sources.
Another key aspect of EvidenceNet activity is helping users to get together to explore how evidence can be used.
- The events section allows you to see what workshops, conference and seminars on your area of interest are coming up.
- This website is the hub of EvidenceNet activity but we are expanding the virtual EvidenceNet community through the ning social networking site and wiki pilot sites.
- The networks section allows you to browse and join existing groups of people.
An evolving service
EvidenceNet is constantly developing in response to the needs of the user community. Plans for the website to be developed during 2010 include enabling:
- users to review as well as rate a resource
- login features such as bookmarking and saved searches
- automated recommendations (‘You might also like...')
