2nd BMAF Employability SIG Workshop - on Sharing Employability Experiences

Description

This free to attend participatory workshop, hosted by the Lancashire Business School and supported by the BMAF Subject Centre, aims to generate discussion and debate about the practice of enhancing the employability of BMAF students.

Peter Forbes from the Council for Industry and Higher Education (CIHE) will provide an update on the Employability Profiles and their use on UCAS website as well as sharing some recent research into how employers engage with HEIs.

The remainder of the day will provide an opportunity to share existing practice concerning employability in the BMAF subject area.

The SIG held its second workshop at Lancashire Business School, UCLan on 3rd October.

Delegates learned about employability awards from Janet Bird, UCLan and Geraldine Hammersley, Coventry University and discussed the use of mentoring to enhance employability with Hannelie du Plexis-Walker, Coventry University, and Ruth Sharpe, UCLan.

Peter Forbes from the Council for Industry and Higher Education (CIHE), provided an update on the employability profiles that will soon be available on the UCAS website.

Peter also provided details of engaging employers with a review of a CIHE Report 'Influence Through Collaboration'.

The day was rounded off with an overview of employability initiatives in HEIs by Ken Moore, Sheffield University and the use of Post Graduate students to develop Undergraduates with Sophie Mills, Coventry University.
