2nd Internationalisation Special Interest Group Workshop 2008/2009
The Internationalisation SIG held a full day workshop on 11 March 2009 at Regent’s College, London on the theme Internationalisation of the Curriculum.
The event was opened Chris Shiel, Director of Global Perspectives at Bournemouth University. In her session she highlighted that internationalising the curriculum is as much about teaching and learning practice as it is about changing what is actually taught.
Mingzhu Wang from Oxford Brookes University Business School then compared how accounting and finance courses are taught in the UK and in China, taking in particular the example of Sichuan University where she studied.
The third session was an interactive workshop led by David Killick of Leeds Metropolitian University. He used a series of activities to illustrate what cross-cultural means to facilitators of learning working with students from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Finally Dr Wai Mun Lim from Plymouth University presented the results of her research into the experiences of intercultural group work of both home and international students.
