BMAF Workshop: Integrating Study Skills into the first year curriculum – a key item in the student support agenda?

Across the sector, concerns have been expressed at the lack of study skills exhibited by new entrants to university, even amongst those students who would seem best prepared for the university experience.

Study skills has also been identified as a key issue in the retention of students and the support agenda for first year students who are identified as being “in transition”. This workshop will feature FDTL5 case studies of best practice in the integration of study skills into the first year curriculum and will provide an opportunity for discussion of key issues. The workshop will be of interest to those staff involved in first year delivery and those responsible for curriculum design. It will also be of interest to those keen to improve first year retention figures. There is no charge for this event.
