The BMAF Network serves to help all discipline groups and staff in this field to provide the best possible learning experience for students undertaking higher education

Hosted by LMU BERG (Business Education Research Group). This workshop will explore the challenges of increasing rates of student drop-out (especially first year withdrawals) in the context of widening student access and diversity, and the variety of solutions / initiatives that have arisen in an attempt to meet them.
Speakers are from the universities of Paisley, the Scottish Further Education Unit, HEFCE and the London Metropolitan University. The objectives of the Workshop are to: (i) identify and define commonly encountered problems potentially leading to early withdrawal from undergraduate programmes (ii) enable participants to share their experiences of these issues and how they have addressed them The Workshop should be useful for academics and university administrators concerned with student retention and progression, for teaching and learning co-ordinators within institutions, and for researchers in the student retention field. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the prior causes of first year student drop-out and fresh ideas for dealing with it that they can apply within their own universities. There is no charge for this event. If you would like to reserve a place at the workshop, please email us with your name, institution and telephone number.
