Next SIG Workshop with focus on Understanding Cultures; and request for help with DBA research on internationalisation.
The next Internationalisation SIG workshop is taking place on
Wednesday 17 March and the venue will the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff.
We will continue with the 2009/2010 theme of ‘The International Agenda: Where Next?’ and for this session in particular we will focus on Understanding Cultures.
There will be 2 main sessions in the morning:
• Teaching in China and teaching Chinese students in the UK which will be led by Colin Simpson for the University of Gloucestershire Business School
• Teaching Accounts to International MBA Students – should we embrace or reject multiculturalism? The guest speaker for this session will be Chris Parry from UWIC
In the afternoon we will take a look at Understanding Cultures: A Global Perspective.
International students from across the world will discuss their experiences and how studying in their home country compares to gaining a qualification in the UK.
We have invited students from Saudi Arabia, Japan and India to contribute to this session and hope to have other countries represented too.
The workshop is free to attend, so if you would like to book a place please contact bmaf@brookes.ac.uk.
And if you would like any further information about the Internationalisation SIG and its activities please contact Eleanor Lloyd Jones on bmaf.sig@brookes.ac.uk or 0116 236 2503.

Dear Colleagues
I hope that you all had a good Christmas and New Year and are looking forward to a challenging year ahead!
I am an academic at Northumbria University and am undertaking a DBA in Newcastle Business School on Internationalisation of UK HEI’s.
As part of the research, I have prepared a questionnaire and have asked if this can be passed to the members of the BMAF Internationalisation SIG for their responses.
I would be grateful if you could spare around 10 minutes or so to answer the questionnaire which can be found via the link below.
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/SNJPVJM
There is more detailed information at the beginning of the questionnaire but it is very easy to complete.
On completion of the survey you will then see a page from the surveymonkey website and this can be simply closed down.
Ideally it should be completed by Friday 12 February 2010 and I will send a reminder email early February.
Please note that all responses will be treated as anonymous and confidential and will be used for the purposes of the DBA only.
If you have any general queries then please email me direct on
kevin.thomas@northumbria.ac.uk
Many thanks in anticipation of your support.
Kind regards
Kevin Thomas
