National Student Survey

The yearly National Student Survey (NSS) was started in 2005 and aims to assess students' opinions of the quality of their degree programmes.

The recent ABS AGM Conference 2010 featured a break out session presented by BMAF Director Clive Robertson and Assistant Director Steve Probert.

The session - 'NSS and Other Student Surveys - Lessons for Business Education' - explored the results of the the various student surveys and league tables that are available, what can be learned from them and how this information can be used to enhance business education.

An Analysis of NSS 2010 Results has been made available by the Association of Business Schools.

Key Findings from the NSS Survey for Business Schools 2008-10

BMAF is pleased to announce the publication of 'Enhancing the Learning Experience of Students in Higher Education', a report on the key findings from the National Student Survey (NSS) for university business schools in England.

BMAF commissioned Aftab Dean of Leeds Metropolitan University to undertake a detailed analysis and evaluation of NSS data. His analysis shows that by concentrating on Assessment and Feedback as a lower scoring aspect of the NSS, we may miss the opportunity to to enhance practice in with areas which have more influence on students' overall satisfaction.

This is a detailed and thorough report with recommendations for future action. We hope it will provide stimulating reading during the summer.
