What is the Design Studio?

The Design Studio is a dynamic web-based toolkit that draws together a range of existing and emerging resources around curriculum design and delivery, and the role technology plays in supporting these processes and practices. The resource is being developed as part of the Support and Synthesis project for the JISC Curriculum Design and Delivery programmes. The Design Studio will provide access to project outcomes and outputs as they emerge and will continue to be sustained as a community resource after the programmes end. The resource is aimed primarily at curriculum teams, and the managers and support staff of the enabling systems that support their work.

There three main ‘windows' onto resources around curriculum: Processes, Challenges and Technologies. Tagging, keyword searching and browsing also allow flexible access to assets.

BMAF has been among the first of the HEA subject networks to add a discipline-specific route to The Design Studio toolkit. Visit the BMAF Community Page.

Types of Resources

There will be a range of practical resources within the Design Studio to support users including: structured case studies; methods and protocols; how-to guides; models and frameworks; findings, lessons and key messages; learning designs and learning resources; evidence (such as video clips and quotes); staff development resources; and transformation stories.

Accessing and Contributing to the Design Studio

The Design Studio is a formative resource so we welcome engagement from the further and higher education communities in its development. The site is public but if you would like to contribute to or comment on the resources, go to the home page and request access.
