Full of practical tips, hints and opportunities to share experience, the workshop also allows more experienced practitioners to review and improve current approaches.

Designing, delivering and managing a work-based assessment strategy

  • Reviewing the variety of skills, learning, knowledge and understanding that real work might generate for assessment
  • Exploring the ways in which assessment strategies can be designed to mesh with workplace practices
  • Considering how a work-based assessment methodologies can best be quality assured and presented for approval

Quality assurance for work-based learning

  • Examining ways in which the award of credit for work-based learning might differ from its award for traditional university programmes
  • Considering how the approval process could be made quicker, more flexible and responsive while retaining strength and integrity

Managing the approval process for work-based learning

  • Preparing a written academic and business case for approval for work-based learning programmes
  • Managing processes for taking existing employer programmes to approval
