Health and Safety has in recent years become a key issue for the Construction Industry. According to the Health and Safety Executive, in the past 25 years, over 2,800 people have died from injuries they received as a result of construction work. Many more have been injured or made ill.
The responsibility for ensuring a safe working environment falls not only on those directly working on construction sites, but also upon those responsible for the design and procurement of the buildings themselves.
For this reason, Health and Safety is considered by the majority of Built Environment Professional Accreditation Bodies as a fundamental issue which must be addressed by students before qualification.
