The new review system for quality assurance in English HE was published on the 20th March 2002. The process is based on institutional review within a six year cycle and there is no freestanding subject-based review. The principal focus is on how institutions are assuring academic standards. The process will examine this in a sample of discipline areas. There is a stronger involvement of students in the process and a strong emphasis on the information that institution's provide about quality and standards.
