The introduction and inclusion of Sustainable Development into the teaching curriculum is a key issue in which the built environment disciplines take a leading role. Much recent debate within the Built Environment sector has focused on its impact on the economic, social and environmental sustainability of the planet. There is a need for those responsible for the development, procurement, design and construction of the built environment to demonstrate the necessary skills and commitment towards sustainability and to recognise the impact that their actions will have on the planet's future. Graduates also need to possess the skills necessary to create a built environment that is able to respond the effects of a changing climate.
CEBE provides a knowledge base to help support subject communities in the development of curricula and pedagogy that will give students the skills and knowledge to live and work sustainably.
