Medicine and Dentistry

The HEA supports a large network of learning and teaching practitioners involved in medicine and dentistry throughout the UK. We provide funding, events, resources and a large number of opportunities to network with learning and teaching practitioners from a variety of institutions and roles.

We initiate, gather and disseminate examples of good practice in learning, teaching and assessment which have been developed and successfully implemented by medicine and dentistry specialists in institutions across the UK. We offer a unique focal point and will help you stay in touch with what matters in learning and teaching in these discipline areas.
We aim to:

  • organise wide-ranging continual professional development activities for learning and teaching in medicine and dentistry
  • disseminate good practice and innovation in learning and teaching of medicine and dentistry
  • provide information and resources relating to pedagogic research as it relates to medicine and dentistry, and directly engage with pedagogical research activities
  • maintain and develop contacts with professional bodies and other relevant national organisations to influence the development of policy and practice in medicine and dentistry education.

Support at subject level is at the heart of our work and we will continue to deliver and develop the services which are most valued by those working in medicine and dentistry education.

Health Sciences Change Programme

The Health Sciences team is launching an exciting new programme to support teams of colleagues in our disciplines who are working on ideas to improve the student experience – particularly those ideas that have arisen through consideration of National Student Survey results. This is a great opportunity to get some structured support and tailored professional development about working with change to help you successfully implement your ideas.

The programme involves four days of face-to-face interactive sessions where you will receive high quality input, from experts in change facilitation, leadership and our disciplines, as well as protected time to spend refining and developing your ideas in your teams.

To find out more about this fantastic opportunity please go to: http://www.heacademy.ac.uk/resources/detail/change/NSS_DISC_CP_11-12 where you can access more information about the programme and a proposal form.

The deadline for applications to participate in the programme is 13 February 2012.
