Social Work and Social Policy
The HEA supports a large network of learning and teaching practitioners involved in social work and social policy throughout the UK. We provide funding, events, resources and a large number of opportunities to network with learning and teaching practitioners from a variety of institutions and roles.
Seminar series
Discipline call for proposals
Through the discipline series, institutions are invited to host and deliver a workshop or seminar on teaching and learning in a discipline context. For further details please refer to the Discipline Call Document.
Workshops and seminars will be held throughout the 2011-12 academic year. To be considered to take part in the series, please complete a Discipline Proposal Form and send it as an email attachment to: seminarseries@heacademy.ac.uk.
Visit our seminar series page for full details of the seminar series, including call for thematic proposals in addition to the discipline call.
What we do
We initiate, gather and disseminate examples of good practice in learning, teaching and assessment which have been developed and successfully implemented by social work and social policy specialists in institutions across the UK. We offer a unique focal point and will help you stay in touch with what matters in learning and teaching in these discipline areas.
We aim to:
- organise wide-ranging continual professional development activities for learning and teaching in social work and social policy
- disseminate good practice and innovation in learning and teaching of social work and social policy
- provide information and resources relating to pedagogic research as it relates to social work and social policy, and directly engage with pedagogical research activities
- maintain and develop contacts with professional bodies and other relevant national organisations to influence the development of policy and practice in social work and social policy education.
Support at subject level is at the heart of our work and we will continue to deliver and develop the services which are most valued by those working in social work and social policy education.
