Economics New Lecturers Residential Workshop

  • Date: 9 Oct 2009 - 10 Oct 2009
  • Location/venue: Craighouse Campus Craighouse Road Edinburgh , United Kingdom, EH10 5LG

A residential two-day workshop specifically designed to meet the needs of new and aspiring lecturers of economics.

The main aim of the workshop is to discuss and evaluate what makes effective teaching of economics, including lectures; seminars and small-group teaching; assessment and feedback; e-learning; module/unit design; classroom experiments and games. There will also be time at the end of the workshop to reflect on key issues and to plan next steps.

The workshop will complement any generic-based institutional courses that delegates are attending or have attended. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

A delegate from last year says: "arguably the most rewarding workshop days I have attended on teaching and on economics - and I have been to quite a few of these things". It is intended this year, one day will focus on large group teaching including lectures, assessment, elearning and games and experiments, and the other day will focus on small group teaching.
