Internationalisation Symposium 2010: Beyond Borders: Challenging Assumptions and Expectations of Internationalisation

 This symposium will provide good networking opportunities for both real and virtual participants to share ideas and explore different views of internationalisation and support for international students.

 Heriot-Watt is a multicultural university with a high proportion of international students and lecturers, and experience of different models of delivery on its home and overseas campuses and through its Approved Learning Partners (ALPS).

 

The synposium will investigate key themes of internationalisation under the following headings:

  1. Learning and teaching: Embedding internationalisation into the curriculum
  2. Impact on teaching methods
  3. Use of new technologies
  4. Widening access, e.g. distance learning
  5. Connecting lecturers’ and students’ expectations and assumptions
  6. Enhancing graduate attributes and scholarship
  7. Employability and transferrable skills
