EC4H Clinical communication tutor training programme
- Date: 31 Mar 2011
- Location/venue: NHS Lothian, Edinburgh, Scotland
EC4H (Effective Communication for Healthcare) offer a range of tutor training opportunities for those wishing to facilitate clinical communication education sessions or workshops for health and social care staff or to enhance their current approaches to clinical teaching. Tutors can be trained to teach various levels from undergraduate students to advanced postgraduate workshops.
The SE Scotland tutors programme has been running for 8 years and is a non-profit making organisation run by a group of practising NHS clinicians. We now train a wide range of health and social care professionals to teach at all levels. Trained tutors are usually NHS professionals who develop this teaching role as a special interest within their existing NHS or University job plan. Those joining our network have access to high quality training using evidence informed approaches to interactive teaching and learning, ongoing professional development and support to develop their own teaching. Short workshops are available for those who teach at undergraduate level. We also run advanced tutor training for professionals who have attended one of our two day communication courses (or equivalent) and are interested in facilitating similar workshops. This programme includes tutor training days, supervised teaching, and ongoing peer support.
