Supporting Students: A workshop for demonstrators in Engineering and Computing
A Demonstrators Workshop for Postgraduate students in Engineering and Computing who have laboratory demonstrating duties to held by the Centre for Engineering and Design Education (incorporating the engCETL and HEA Engineering Subject Centre) at Loughborough University.
Laboratory demonstrators are a core part of university teaching and learning and commonly involve postgraduate students. The workshop gives an overview of the skills expected of a demonstrator and highlights common issues relating to supporting students in the laboratory. The day provides participants with an opportunity to network with peers from other institutions and further develop their own key skills and complements institutional programmes offered.
Key areas covered are: Sharing existing practice, Exploring the role of the Demonstrator, Managing expectations, Dealing with difficult situations, Marking laboratory scripts and assessing students.
This event is offered without charge, however it is necessary to book your place.
