Teaching and Assessing Professionalism in Healthcare*A Health Sciences Highlight Series Workshop*

Professionalism is an important issue across all of the health professions, including but not limited to nursing, midwifery, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, health professions including occupational health, social work, etc. The regulatory bodies expect higher education to recognise, teach and assess professionalism, which manifests itself in a range of behaviors.
This highly interactive one day workshop features renowned international expert Professor Maxine Papadakis facilitating discussion of what professionalism means in higher education, and how to evidence and promote it.
Aims
The workshop aims to:
· raise awareness of teaching 'professionalism' and 'fitness to practice' in health care programmes
· share methods for assuring the development 'professionalism' and 'fitness to practice' in health care programmes among students and trainees

Proposed outcomes
Participants will have a wider understanding of professionalism and how to measure evidence of professional behavior.
