Assessment in Practice.

The Higher Education Academy Discipline Workshop and Seminar Series.
The workshop will focus on aspects of assessment in the disciplines of Fine Art, Design and Architecture, and in particular, on problems of assessing practice based work. Much of the learning takes occurs in the ‘practicum’, and the studio is a central feature of learning and assessment.
Guest speakers will present expert views on the nature of assessment in these practice based subjects in keynote presentations. Subsequently, colleagues from within the institution will present, share and discuss their own approaches to these issues in parallel workshop sessions. These issues will provisionally include, amongst others:
• Student self-evaluation;
• Dialogue as an assessment vehicle;
• Assessment and the curriculum.
