About SHEEF

The Scottish Higher Education Employability Forum (SHEEF) was created to provide strategic leadership and support for employability strategies, initiatives and practices across the Scottish HE sector.
SHEEF is launching its first employability change programme (specifically designed for Scottish HEIs), in partnership with the Higher Education Academy, to support individual HEI’s employability priorities, and facilitate knowledge exchange, mutual support and dialogue across the sector.

The employability change programme

This change programme aims to support HEI's in the development and implementation of student employability, employer engagement and entrepreneurship initiatives. As with other successful HEA change programmes, an institutional team approach will be employed. Teams may identify a change programme initiative relating to one or more of the following:

  • Student employability – developing graduate attributes through the curriculum.
  • Employer engagement – strengthening and extending partnerships.
  • Entrepreneurship – embedding enterprise skills and entrepreneurship within and across disciplines.

Initiatives might address change and development at institutional or faculty level: for example, the implementation of specific employability strategies or an evaluation of the effectiveness of work-related learning across a number of specific programmes and/or disciplines. Teams may include lecturers, student support staff, and/or managers; from one or more faculty or department.

Participants will come together to share knowledge, experiences and explore particular aspects of employability during the programme. Institutional teams will be asked to complete an evaluation of their initiative by September 2012.
