Open Educational Resources for Accredited Courses for Teachers in Higher Education – Call for projects

As part of phase 2 of the Higher Education Academy/JISC Open Educational Resources programme  the Academy invites the submission of funding proposals in the following area:

A (ii) Open material for accredited courses for teachers in higher education

Funding of up to £220,000 is available for a number of one year projects of up to £20,000 to openly release a reasonable corpus of new or pre-existing high quality resources – at least the equivalent of 30 credits or 300 study hours – which may constitute a range of materials designed to support new and established staff engaged in teaching and supporting learning.

These resources should be designed to support accredited programme providers in enabling staff to provide evidence against the UK Professional Standards Framework for Teaching and Supporting Learning in Higher Education (UK PSF) . The resources released are likely to focus on the underpinning areas of activity, core knowledge and/or professional values.  We particularly welcome the release of resources that support the following key areas:
a. Digital/information literacy;
b. Development of inclusive curricula;
c. Education for sustainable development;
d. Discipline-specific teaching and learning.

Funding is available for projects starting from 31 August 2010 for 1 year. All projects must be complete by 31 August 2011.

The deadline for receipt of proposals in response to this call is 12:00 noon UK time on Friday 9th July 2010 

Eligibility

Proposals may be submitted by Higher Education (HE) Institutions funded by HEFCE and Academy Subject Centres. FE institutions in England that teach HE to more than 400 FTEs are also eligible to bid. Institutions in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales are not eligible to bid, but may be involved as partners in proposals led by an eligible institution.

Proposals may be from single institutions or consortia. Partnership arrangements may be developed outside the sector but the lead partner must meet the criteria outlined above. Funds can only be allocated through the lead partner.
