Student Engagement in the UK Context
- Closing date: 17 Feb 2011
- Type of funding: Research
- Funding body: The Higher Education Academy
The Higher Education Academy is pleased to invite research bids from individuals or groups with an interest in building upon their existing work on student engagement. Funding has been provided to enable us to offer six grants of up to a maximum of £2000 each to undertake this research (one grant specifically is offered to a Welsh institution. Please note, this does not preclude Wesh institutions receiving more than one grant).
The primary output of this research will be a presentation at the Higher Education Academy’s annual conference on the 5th and 6th July 2011, and publication of the research by the Higher Education Academy.
It is intended that the research will focus on one of the following themes:
1. The production of local studies on student engagement in structures and practices, especially student voices in curriculum-shaping;
2. The development of evidence that speaks to – to confirm, challenge or redefine – previous literature, to support an integrated picture of practice and effects in student engagement;
3. The development of UK surveys designed to address student engagement, e.g. surveys based on the National Survey of Student Engagement (from the USA), or the Australasian Survey of Student Engagement.
