National Teaching Fellowship Scheme

Since 2006 the Higher Education Academy's National Teaching Fellowship Scheme (NTFS) has two separate strands: Individual Awards and Projects, with total funding per year of £2.5 million.

NTFS Individual Awards
The individual strand of the National Teaching Fellowship Scheme (NTFS) recognises and rewards individual excellence in teaching in higher education in England and Northern Ireland. Awards of approx. £10,000 are made to recognise individual excellence. The award may be used for Fellows' personal and/or professional development in teaching and learning and aspects of pedagogy.

Nominations are called for annually, with the submission deadline for applications usually falling in March. Further information about the nomination guidelines and for applicants are available online through the Higher Education Academy website.

NTFS Project Strand
The project strand of the National Teaching Fellowship Scheme (NTFS) presents opportunities for Higher Education institutions to work with National Teaching Fellows to build on their expertise for the benefit of their own institution and that of the wider higher education sector. Teams are annually able to bid for funds of up to £200,000 for use over a period of up to three years.

Association of National Teaching Fellows
The Association of National TEaching Fellows (ANTF) is an organisation created to enhance and embed the impact of National Teaching Fellows in promoting excellence in learning and teaching. The ANTF holds an annual symposium for individual National Teaching Fellows (this usually falls in May).
