Institutional Partnership

Since our inception, the Hospitality, Leisure, Sport and Tourism Network (HLST) benefitted from formal working relationships with a number of universities which offer programmes in our subject grouping.

Through these arrangements we were able to:

  • Consult quickly on emerging and contemporary issues.
  • Gain insights to institutional contexts and strategies which may influence how programmes are delivered.
  • Gain regular feedback on the needs of practitioners seeking to enhance the learning experiences and opportunities they provide for their students.
  • Gain feedback on the appropriateness and usefulness of our support through our activities, products and services.

Institutional partners were chosen to provide us with UK-wide access to views and opinions as well as offering the potential to engage at a regional level when appropriate. They had nominated representatives who provided a link for us to their institutions at all levels, to both staff and students. The partners met with HLST twice a year.

Our Institutional Partners were:

  1. Leeds Metropolitan University
  2. University of Ulster
  3. University of Wales Institute, Cardiff
  4. University of Brighton
  5. Bournemouth University
  6. Queen Margaret University
  7. University of Gloucestershire
  8. Sheffield Hallam University
  9. Liverpool John Moores University
  10. University of Surrey

2009-10 was the last year in which we operated with the formal Institutional Partners arrangement, due to a significant reduction in funding to the HLST Network. We would like to thank our Institutional Partners for their support and hard work, and look forward to continued contact with them in the future.
