Hospitality, Leisure, Travel and Tourism Businesses Respond to Skills Gaps in Run-up to Olympics

Date: 1-April-2010

The recently-published National Employer Skills Survey for England has highlighted that skills gaps are higher in the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism sector than across the UK as a whole.

However, People 1st's director of policy and research Martin-Christian Kent points out that sector employers are working hard to meet the challenge, most having not cut back on training in spite of the recession.

People 1st's own research indicates that aproximately half of employers are thinking about bringing it back in-house training and a third are looking at the benefits of qualifications and government funding.
