Study Reveals the Recipe for the Perfect Lecturer

Date: 26-July-2010

A recent study by staff at the Univrsity of Hertfordshire's Learning and Teaching Institute has analyses feedback from over 400 students to draw a picture of what students value most in a lecturer.

Among the most valued traits include 'Great Teaching', 'General Positivity' and being 'Influential', although other factors such as 'Assessment and Feedback' feature surprisingly low in students list of priorities.

The study also highlights the emerging importance of what the study calls the 'edutainer', a lecturer who is able to provide both education and entertainment.

The study is based on analysis of student submissions for the University of Hertfordshire's annual Tutor of the Year award.
