Call for Papers: Tourism and Hospitality - Planning and Development

The journal Tourism and Hospitality: Planning and Development is inviting submissions for a special issue with the theme: 'The changing paradigms of tourism in international development: Placing the poor first – Trojan Horse or Real Hope?'

The aim of the special issue is critically evaluate the place of tourism as a strategy for international development. The organisers welcome submissions that:

  • Analyse the evidence of extent of changing paradigms of the role of tourism in international development;
  • Contribute to the theoretical frameworks of the interaction of tourism and international development;
  • Contribute to the theoretical frameworks of the interaction between tourism and poverty;
  • Present reflective, logical and substantiated discourses on tourism and poverty reduction;
  • Identify policy and strategies to advance the use of tourism for poverty reduction; and
  • Present case studies that provide a critical evaluation on the effectiveness of tourism as an agent of poverty reduction.

Abstracts of 350 words should be submitted by 30 April 2010.

Papers, reviews, case studies should be submitted as a word document and sent to Prof. Andrew Holden and Dr. Marina Novelli.
