Community Sports Clubs Survive Recession

Date: 3-December-2009

A recent study of 3,000 clubs by the Central Council of Physical Recreation shown an increase in membership to community sports clubs.

The CCPR's biennial report 'Survey of Sports Clubs 2009' covered 73 difference sports and showed that 34% of clubs had seen an increase in the number of adult memberships and 40% saw an increase in junior memberships.

It is hoped that the results from the CCPR study demonstrate the positive effect of the government's attempts to increase the number of people participating in sport ahead of the London 2012 Olympics through additional investment.
