New Funding Opportunities from JISC

The Joint Information Systems Committee is inviting submissions for the following funding opportunities.

Two strands of funding are available as part of the e-Content and Business and Community Engagement Programmes.

  • Strand I - Rapid User Innocation: Enhancing existing digital resources with mechanisms and features to engage new external audiences, and to secure their active involvement online.
  • Strand II - Co-development of Content: Building new digital collections, or transforming existing collections through genuine co-creation with specific external communities.

Deadline for receipt of proposals Monday 8 February 2010.

Proposals for projects to explore enhancements to existing library management systems are invited on the following themes:

  • Theme A - Use of new resource discovery interfaces: Case studies which explore the implementation of new resource discovery interfaces.
  • Theme B - Enhancing existing Online Public Access Catalogues (provision of content enrichment, social bookmarking, etc.) and creating widgets/portlets to embed access to library resources and services in university and/or social Web applications.
  • Theme C - Exploring problem areas: Case studies which illustrate examples of problem areas and explore short term and possible future solutions to these problems through a series of workshops.

Deadline for submissions Friday 5 February 2010.

JISC invites tenders to plan, organise and facilitate a series of workshops exploring practical problem areas for libraries in the use of library management systems and to compile a report on the outcomes of these workshops.
