HLST Student Competition 2009-10 - win £350!
HLST Student Competition 2009-10
In less than 1000 days the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be here. For many of us this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience such an enormous sporting event and its impact.
The Olympic symbol was adopted 95 years ago, in 1914, so perhaps it’s time to come up with a new symbol which might better represent Olympism today. We are challenging HLST students to consider the Olympic and Paralympic goals and values in the context of a 21st Century Games.
The HLST Student Competition task for 2009-10 is to design a new symbol and a one line slogan which represents the meaning of the Games for young people today. Entrants will need to present their symbol and slogan, accompanied by a discussion of the thinking behind them. This can be in the form of a video diary, a podcast or a written rationale.
The competition winner will receive £350, with one runner-up receiving £150. Winners will be announced by 9th April 2010 and invited to attend the annual Higher Education Academy Conference where certificates will be presented. They will also be invited to present their winning ideas to the HLST annual conference in November 2010, which will take as its theme the 2012 Games.
Please pass on news of the competion to your students. Full details including submission instructions and assessment criteria can be found on the attached document (please see Related Documents below).
Deadline for entries Friday 5th March 2010.
