Why get involved with HLST?


As well as offering events and resources to help you with your teaching, HLST gives you opportunities to network with colleagues in other universities and to enhance your understanding of the national landscape of our subjects. HLST works with the relevant subject associations, professional bodies, Sector Skills Councils, the Higher Education Academy, the QAA and other bodies. By engaging with the work that HLST does, not only can you be informed about policy issues in our subject areas, you will also have an opportunity to influence policy.

There are 25 Sector Skills Councils nationally, HLST works with three of them:

SkillsActive - The Sector Skills Council for the Active Leisure and Learning Industry.
People 1st - The Sector Skills Council for the Hospitality, Leisure, Travel and Tourism industries.
Skillsmart - The Sector Skills Council for Retail.
