Social Sciences
The Social Sciences Division was establishing a permanent university lectureship to co-ordinate future activity in the area of Teaching and Learning. 50% of this post was funded initially by the Centre. The postholder oversaw the Year 2 development programmes in three departments: Educational Studies, Politics & International Relations, and Sociology. Programmes in two further departments were brought on stream in Year 3, and in the remaining four departments in Year 4.

The University of Oxford convened a ‘Preparation for Academic Practice Network’ that formed the basis of dissemination involving large-scale implementation. The network consisted of seven institutions (including Oxford) which between them contain almost a quarter of the UK’s PGR students: the University of Cambridge; the London School of Economics; Imperial College; King’s College London; the University of Edinburgh; and the University of Warwick. Expertise on graduate skill development was also contributed to the Network by the UKGRAD programme.
