Description

The White Rose Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning of Enterprise (WRCETLE) was a regional collaboration between the Universities of Sheffield, Leeds and York, which aimed to enhance and embed enterprise related activities across the campuses.

Prof John Yates, School of Mechanical Engineering, University of Sheffield, j.yates@sheffield.ac.uk

Prof Pauline Kneale, School of Geography, University of Leeds, p.e.kneale@leeds.ac.uk

Mr Tony Ward, Department of Electronics, University of York, aew@ohm.york.ac.uk

Telephone: 01904 435353

The overarching aims of the White Rose CETLE were to:

  • Provide enterprise teaching resources and support accessible to all staff within the consortium, and especially in the Social Science, Arts and Humanities disciplines where such provision is less developed.
  • Provide students with real and simulated interdisciplinary business experience using the micro-incubator and a business simulator;
  • Reward demonstrated excellence by teaching staff with prestige teaching prizes and funded study visits
  • Effect a durable change in institutional culture towards enterprise;
  • Continue to work with a variety of organisations, both nationally and regionally.

Each campus had teaching and learning Enterprise Zones to provide a focal point for students, researchers and staff interested in enterprise.
