The Hospitality, Leisure, Sport & Tourism Network aims to encourage and broker the sharing of good learning and teaching practice across our subject areas of UK higher education.

PDP is defined by the QAA (2009, p.2) as:
"A structured and supported process undertaken by an individual to reflect upon their own learning, performance and/or achievement and to plan for their personal, educational and career development."
A primary objective of PDP is to enable students to understand what and how they are learning, and to review, plan and take responsibility for their own learning.
In 2009 the QAA published revised guidelines for PDP and QAA Scotland produced a toolkit to support the implementation of PDP. These provide extensive resources and guidance on enhancing and implementing PDP and should be used as an initial starting point for considering PDP.
An ‘effective learning framework‘ has been developed as part of the work in Scotland, this helps in explaining the between effective learning and PDP.

Note
A new Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR) report for students is currently being developed and piloted. This will combine the current UK academic transcript and the European Diploma Supplement. Further information on development of the HEAR will be available via the QAA and the Higher Education Academy.
There is an extensive range of resources to support the development of PDP in HE, for example:
