The professional bodies for the HLST subject areas are:

• British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES)
  BASES is the professional body for sport and exercise sciences in the UK. BASES mission is to promote excellence in sport and exercise sciences.
• Institute of Sport, Parks and Leisure (ISPAL)
  ISPAL (The Institute for Sport, Parks and Leisure) is the professional membership body for a fast growing industry, representing sport, parks and leisure industry professionals. ISPAL was formed in January 2007 by the amalgamation of two previous bodies, ILAM (The Institute of Leisure and Amenity Management) and NASD (The National Association of Sports Development). They aim to provide support, advocacy and professional development for those involved in the sports, parks and leisure industries.
• Institute of Hospitality (IoH)
  The IoH is the professional body for managers and potential managers in the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industries. It covers all sectors of the industry including hotels, contract catering companies, restaurants, pubs and clubs, as well as leisure outlets, theme parks and sports venues.
