Student Employability Profiles

Description

The Council for Industry and Higher Education (CIHE) and the Higher Education Academy launched a series of Student Employability Profiles in 2006 for all degree programmes, aimed to help academic staff, employers and students to understand better the skills developed through the study of a particular subject.

This guide provides an overview of the 50 discipline profiles that have been produced in consultation with the 24 Higher Education Academy Subject Centres. It is designed to facilitate the use of the profiles within the higher education community by suggesting ways in which these resources can be used to:

  • Inform curriculum design.
  • Support the delivery of employability skills development in undergraduate students.
  • Enhance the understanding of prospective students and their parents as to the value of degree level study.
  • Communicate more effectively with employers in a shared language.
