Sustainability

The purpose of the Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Project is to help institutions and subject communities develop curricula and pedagogy that will give students the skills and knowledge to live and work sustainably. Our aims are:

  • research and support the development of ESD in the Higher Education sector, particularly within subject communities;
  • build capacity internally and amongst individuals, subject communities and institutions to embed ESD in curricula and pedagogy; and
  • assist the coordination and dissemination of policy, research and practice relating to ESD in institutions, the Higher Education Academy and the wider field.

To join our e-mail list for regular updates, which cover our own work, plus events, resources, news and features for the HE sector, please join our JISC Mailing list.

In partnership with the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC), we created the Sustainability in Higher Education Developers (SHED) Network. It involves two e-mail lists, one for general sharing and enquiries, and the second, a subset, for key and active people committed to working with one another on policies, strategies and other initiatives. Please follow the links on the left-side to Resources and then to Networks.
