Accreditation

Our accreditation process meets two of our strategic aims:

  • to broker and encourage the sharing of effective practice
  • to raise the status of teaching

We engage educational and staff developers at practitioner level. It is a peer based process which supports institutions in their development of professional development activity.

Accreditation provides external confirmation that institutional CPD provision is aligned with the UK Professional Standards Framework for Teaching and Supporting Learning in Higher Education (UK PSF) (PDF 166KB) and enables participants to engage with the standards at the appropriate descriptor.

The process locates the formal aspects of accreditation within a collaborative and developmental approach that enables institutions to share:

  • ideas
  • institutional and other contextual opportunities and constraints
  • ways in which professional development opportunities and requirements might develop in the future

Please read the Accreditation Guidance Document for further details about the proces (PDF 234KB).
