A one day meeting of the Higher Education Group of the Institute of Physics co-hosted with the Higher Education Academy Physical Sciences Centre.
Many similarities in the content of undergraduate Physics degree programmes are found between different institutions. Whilst the concepts that are taught must satisfy the requirements of accreditation, there is considerable scope in how core material is presented. A wide range of new resources can now be exploited in the delivery of the material; however, the greatest challenge remains in finding new contexts with which to exemplify the core material to make it more relevant to current undergraduates.
This one day meeting will explore the use of new contexts in the teaching of standard core physics and will summarise the latest efforts made by innovative educators. The meeting aims to cover issues from all years of undergraduate teaching. Presentations will be given by a range of speakers from different institutions who will share good practice and describe examples that have been used to enthuse and engage students.
Registration is available online.
