The Centre for Learning and Teaching at Manchester Metropolitan University and the Higher Education Academy Physical Sciences Centre are jointly organising an e-learning special interest group meeting to showcase some examples of innovation in e-learning. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from people actively engaging in e-learning innovation and will hear about the current drive to Open Educational Resources (OER).

 

Outline for the day

 

Examples of e-learning in the disciplines
Short presentations will be provided on examples of e-learning currently being used to support learning.

 

OER
There is a developing trend for OER, supported by some recent HEFCE funded projects. Attendees will be able to hear more about OER and some OER projects; and will be able to discuss the potential implications for Higher Education.

 

Resource showcase
Attendees will have the opportunity to discuss their own work and share ideas about the use of e-learning with others.

 

Future activities
There will be an opportunity to discuss any burning issues arising from the meeting and future opportunities for collaboration. Any areas of support identified can be supported with help from the Physical Sciences Centre.
