The British Sign Language (BSL) glossary is an excellent resource developed with support from the Subject Centre. The resource offers a glossary for a range of scientific terms, along with video clips of the terms translated into BSL. Another related site for engineering and the built environment may also be useful.
The guide is aimed at providing concise practical advice on different teaching situations, from lab work to formal lectures. The guide can be downloaded in pdf format.
The SCIPS Project is a Strand 2 HEFCE funded project (Improving Provision for Disabled Students) which uses the subject benchmark statements to allow teaching staff to identify potential challenges, inherent in the subject benchmark statements, that may present difficulty for students with certain disabilities or degree of difficulty. The identified challenges for each learning activity/learning outcome are cross matched with recommended adjustments to practise; these help academic staff to amend learning, teaching and assessment practise and provision so that disabled students are enabled to meet the standards described in the benchmark statements.
