New Lecturer Workshop

Each year the Centre runs a residential workshop for aspiring and newly appointed academic staff. These workshops focus on teaching and learning in Higher Education and are subject specific to physics, chemistry and forensic science.

Aimed at staff with less than 3 years experience, there is no charge for those working in UK Higher Education and those attending receive

  • our New Lecturer Pack
  • £100 towards travel for up to two events organised by the Centre (includes workshops and conferences)
  • the opportunity to network through our dedicated discussion board.

Details of past workshops, including presentations, can be found in our Events Archive.

Centre Mailing List

We encourage all new staff to sign up to our mailing list to receive our publications. These range from Wavelength, our newsletter covering news and topical teaching and learning articles, to Practice Guides, which focus on specific teaching and learning topics.

New Lecturer JISCmail List

The JISCmail list specifically for new lecturers in physical sciences is

physsci-newlecturer@jiscmail.ac.uk

To join this list visit the JISCmail documentation page.

Special Interest Groups

The Centre supports a variety of Special Interest Groups (SIGs), which aim to support, develop and monitor work in specific areas of the curriculum or in specific approaches to learning and teaching. These groups all use JISCmail lists used for the sharing of ideas and resources.

To find out more, or to join one of our groups, visit our Special Interest Groups area.
