e-Portfolio Project

There is a wide range of e-portfolio systems which are being used to support PDP (Personal Development Planning). This project has been aimed at developing an e-portfolio 'framework' which physical science departments can adapt using their own e-portfolio systems.

The framework provides students with a discipline based context for skills identification and recording as well as reflection, as part of their PDP. Primarily the framework has been aimed at undergraduate physical science students but it has been shown to be possible to adapt it other disciplines and postgraduate study.

For those without an e-portfolio tool, a simple way of storing evidence is to use a zipped set of folders, each folder labelled with the name of the skill to which the evidence contained therein relates. Users can simply download the zip file to an area of memory of their choice then unzip the file ready for use. Below is an example of a zip file of folders ready to receive evidence and an example of where this approach is being used.  These examples relate to undergraduate chemistry but this approach could very easiliy be adapted for any set of skills.
