Tribes, Territories, Research and Teaching: Enhancing the Teaching-Research Nexus

  • Start date: 2006-09-01
  • End date: 2007-09-01
  • Amount: £30000
  • Status: in progress
  • Funding Initiative: Higher Education Academy

The project will build on the work of the principal investigator which has examined how academics conceptualise and inhabit their disciplinary environment and how this experience is moderated and mediated by their institutional and departmental contexts.

The project elaborates the connections between approaches to research on one hand and teaching, learning, assessment and curricula (LTAC) practices on the other across four different disciplines and domains of study in three different institutional and departmental contexts. It unpicks the relationships between research approaches and LTAC practices in a more nuanced way than has been done before by taking both contextual (departmental, institutional) and disciplinary/domain variables (epistemological differences) into account.
