This Guide initially describes how the "widening participation" agenda is being taken forward in UK HE, taking in the role of Foundation Degrees, and then proposes approaches that HE can use to prepare an increasingly diverse student population to move into and through employment.
It looks at Fair Access initiatives, extending and targeting the work that academics and especially careers services are already doing to help students to develop career management skills, increasing links between targeted student groups and employment based mentors and role models, and extending HE provision to those already in the workforce and to students based in the FE sector. Many examples of current initiatives are given.
