These profiles have been developed with the help of Subject Centres and the Council for Industry and Higher Education (CIHE).
They are designed to help academics better articulate, to students and employers, the employability skills developed through the study of a particular discipline. Each Profile describes skills that have been selected by the subject centres based on the QAA benchmark statements. These are then mapped against the qualities and attributes ("generic employability competencies") sought by employers in their graduate recruits. It also offers a set of "reflective questions" that students can use to reflect on the whole of their higher education experience, including extra-curricular achievements and work experience, and identify those activities that enable them to articulate their skills. This will have benefit for profile building and personal development planning and for self-marketing to employers. (For those profiles that are still in preparation, shortened versions, produced for employers, can be found in "Student Employability Profiles: A guide for Employers"; http://www.cihe-uk.com/docs/PUBS/0503SEPEmployers.pdf)
