Meaningful Student Engagement in Higher Education (2010)

The Meaningful Student Engagement in HE developmental programme aims to help HE institutions and FE colleges with HE provision to enhance the engagement of disabled students in the design and delivery of learning and teaching. Ten institutions from England and Wales have been selected to participate in the programme which runs from December 2010 to November 2011.

The programme builds on the work of a previous project, ‘Furthering the Involvement of Disabled Students’ led by the Higher Education Academy and Equality Challenge Unit from 2008-10. This project culminated in guidance (PDF, 541KB), launched in June 2010, to help institutions develop strategic approaches to disabled student engagement.

The ten institutions, 8 HEIs and 2 FE colleges, participating in the programme are:

    • Birmingham City University
    • Bishop Grosseteste University College
    • Coventry University
    • Newcastle College
    • Newman University College, Birmingham
    • Northumbria University
    • University for the Creative Arts
    • University of Central Lancashire
    • University of Glamorgan
    • Wakefield College

The programme is funded by HEFCE and HEFCW.
