University of Bradford - Improving the degree attainment of Black and minority ethnic students
The University of Bradford is one of the most socially inclusive universities; however we still have the same attainment differentials as reported for the entire sector. The project team has identified key groups of individuals across the University who can support the work of this project. Close interaction with these groups is important to the development of the activity envisaged by this project.
The activity will fall into three sections:
1) Raising awareness: through work with a variety of groups and processes such as Annual Course Monitoring.
2) Development of evidenced based practice: centred around inclusive curricula and inclusive pedagogy. This work will develop local case studies and research summaries which will build to form a web-resource.
3) Recruitment reward and promotion: work on ensuring that staff are rewarded and promoted for engaging with learning and teaching innovation, overcoming staff belief that this sort of activity is a block to promotion.
This work will be clearly integrated into the developing corporate strategy 2009-2014
