Funding Calls

Internationalisation workshop and seminar series

Deadline 20 January 2012

The HEA is offering funding to institutions to host and deliver a workshop or seminar promoting research and evidence that has informed institutional policy and/or practice.

Connections: pilot projects supporting internationalisation

Deadline 30 January 2012

The HEA, in conjunction with the UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA), are inviting bids for funded internationalisation projects to support both international students studying in the UK and for UK students to take opportunities to be more internationally aware. Up to £10,000 in funding is available for projects, although higher amounts may be available in exceptional circumstances.

International scholarship scheme

Deadline 31 January 2012

The HEA’s international scholarship scheme has been designed to benefit the UK Higher Education (HE) sector by bringing back interesting, challenging and innovative learning and teaching practice to the UK. Individual grants of up to £20,000 are available to support periods of study abroad between 3 and 6 months in duration.

New HEA doctoral programme announced

Deadline 10 February 2012

The HEA Doctoral Programme forms part of the Academy’s strategy to undertake research to develop pedagogical knowledge and evidence-based practice in HE. The HEA is inviting bids for the 2011/12 academic year with seven doctoral studentships available.

Discipline change programme – responding to the NSS

Deadline 13 February 2012

The HEA has launched an exciting new programme to support departments who wish to work on improving the student experience, particularly those addressing issues that have arisen from the National Student Survey results. The programme will be facilitated by a team of experts with first-hand experience in educational development through a series of 4 days of face-to-face interactive workshops

Submissions open for individual teaching development grants

Deadline 19 February 2012

The HEA has opened its second individual teaching development call with grants of up to £7,000 available. The awards will be made to individuals responsible for learning and teaching on the themes of internationalisation and employability.

Submissions open for Change Academy 2012

Deadline 16 March 2012

The HEA, in partnership with the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education, has this week opened submissions to the Change Academy programme. Change Academy is the year-long flagship programme designed to support the implementation of complex change projects to enhance the student learning experience.

UK travel fund

The HEA UK travel fund enables staff and students to attend conferences, network meetings and special interest groups that are being run in the UK.

Discipline workshop and seminar series

Through the discipline series, institutions are invited to host and deliver a workshop or seminar on teaching and learning in a discipline context with grants of up to £1000 available.

HEA focus on professionalisation of teaching continues in four-year strategic plan

The HEA has launched its vision for the next four years, emphasising its role as the national voice for learning and teaching enhancement in higher education.

HEA launches employer engagement publication

The HEA has published ‘Learning from experience in employer engagement’, which shares the learning from higher education institutions (HEIs) involved in projects to enhance their employer engagement policy and practices.

2011/12 'Assessment and feedback' and 'Retention and success' seminar series announced

The full schedule for the thematic workshop and seminar series is now available with 20 seminars on the theme of assessment and feedback and 12 on the theme of retention and success. The seminars will run from February until July 2012 across the UK and focus on a wide variety of aspects of learning and teaching. The 2011/12 internationalisation and discipline seminars calls remain open (see above).
